City of Sale Eisteddfod Inc

All entries to the City of Sale Eisteddfod Dance Section are accepted, subject to the following rules:

  1. ENTRIES CLOSE with the Convenor on the 11th February, 2005.
  2. Entries must be submitted on the official Entry Form or photocopy thereof, together with FULL entry fee. No entry will be recorded unless accompanied by full entry fee (No Postage Stamps). Cheques should be made payable to CITY OF SALE EISTEDDFOD SOCIETY INC. A stamped self-addressed business sized envelope must be included for return of appearance notices.
  3. LATE ENTRIES WILL INCUR AN EXTRA FEE OF $5.00. STRICTLY NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE 18th FEBRUARY, 2005.
  4. If, by the closing date, only one entry is received for a section, the entry may be amalgamated or combined with another section. If the entry is not accepted the competitor will be notified ASAP and the entry fee returned.
  5. Duets, Trios, Groups and Troupes are to be entered on a separate entry form to Solos. A Group is made up of 4-5 members, while Troupe entries require a minimum of 6 members.
  6. All competitors are required to pay an insurance levy of $1.50. Where members of a duo, trio, group or troupe have entered solo sections and already paid the levy, they are not required to pay again. If however, there is a member of the duo, trio, group or troupe that is not entered in solo sections, the insurance levy will need to be paid for that entry to be accepted.
  7. No pre-paid programmes will be available. Programmes will only be available at the Eisteddfod. Any photocopying of program is not complying with copyright rules, Eg: Any reproduction in whole or in part is strictly prohibited.
  8. Please check entries are correct on Appearance Notices, as there will be no changes once program is finalised. Competitors are not entitled to a refund of fees for non-appearance.
  9. All competitors perform at their own risk.
  10. The committee will not be liable for any copyright infringements.
  11. These competitions are open to Amateurs only. Amateur to mean one whose REGULAR income is not derived from dancing. Student teachers who are instructing no more than 4 students in private lessons, and/or who are assisting in class with a teacher present at all times may dance as Amateurs.
  12. NOVICE: A student who has never won a FIRST or SECOND prize in THIS OR ANY OTHER EISTEDDFOD. All other competitors must enter in the OPEN section. If a competitor in un-placed for three years (including H.M.) they may again compete as a Novice.
  13. In all sections which are subject to an age limit, the age on the closing date for entries, each year, shall be deemed to be the age of the competitor. The committee reserves the right to request proof of age at any time.
  14. Pointe shoes may only be worn by competitors 12 Years & Over.
  15. Competitors are not to appear more than once in any one section.
  16. Trophies/Medals/Ribbons will normally be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places.
  17. Prizes will be awarded at the discretion of the Adjudicator, whose decision will be final. Prizes may be withheld where, in the opinion of the Adjudicator, sufficient merit has not been shown.
  18. ALL COMPETITORS MUST REPORT TO THE SECRETARY’S DESK AT LEAST 15 MINUTES PRIOR TO THE COMMENCEMENT OF THEIR SECTION. Once a section has commenced, no competitors will be accepted.
  19. All Cassettes (NO BX SCOTCH BRAND) should have 30 seconds spacing between each item. All items must be set to play.
  20. Communication with the Adjudicator, during the Eisteddfod, is not permitted by parents, teachers, or competitors, excluding committee members. Enquiries are to be made through the Secretary’s desk or Session Chairperson.
  21. The Committee will not be responsible for lost items.
  22. Dangerous Props will not be allowed. Props may be used and placed on stage by competitors. Once the section is complete, all props are to be removed from the backstage area.
  23. The Committee will not permit music with vocal background or microphones to be used by competitors in the Song and Dance sections.
  24. Competitors are to collect the Adjudicator Reports and Certificates by the closure of each session. These are available, 15 minutes after the completion of a section, from the Secretary’s desk.
  25. Any Protest must be made in writing within half an hour of completion of the section and be accompanied by a deposit of $10.00, which will be forfeited if the protest is dismissed. The decision of the Committee in all matters will be final.
  26. The Committee reserves the right to amend the program at any time by changing the order of competitors.
  27. The Committee reserves the right to appoint another Adjudicator should the occasion arise.
  28. No camera or recording equipment will be permitted in the hall whilst competitors are performing: with the exception of a video camera hired by the Committee. It is an infringement of copyright law to use video cameras or recording equipment during performances on stage. These are strictly prohibited
  29. Aggregate Trophies: Points will be awarded as follows:
    First – 5 points, Second – 3 points, Third – 2 points, H.M. – 1 point.
    In the event of a draw occurring, a trophy will be awarded to each winner.
  30. Failure to comply with any of the above conditions may result in disqualification
